Dick F. Elliott

Sen. Dick F. Elliott, Honorary Founder 2014Dick F. Elliott (1935-2014) represented South Carolina’s 28th district as a state senator from 1992 until 2012 and a state representative from 1982 to 1992. He served as vice chair of the Horry County Council from 1976-1980, as chair of the North Myrtle Beach School Board from 1968-1971 and as a member of the North Myrtle Beach City Council from 1962-1966.

When he moved from Camden (S.C.) to North Myrtle Beach in 1959, he established Elliott Realty, and he was the developer and major owner of Eagle Nest Golf Club, Eagle Nest Estates and Beachwood Golf Club.

Elliott attended Clemson University and Wingate Junior College.

In 2012, Gov. Nikki Haley awarded Elliott the South Carolina Order of the Palmetto, the state’s highest honor.

He died in June 2014.

Elliott was named an honoary founder of Coastal Carolina University in 2014.
