Economics is the study of how individuals, firms, and countries choose among alternatives. Many people think the study of economics is only about money, but economics can be applied to food, water, health care, education, environmental policy, and much more. Students interested in economics are usually detail-oriented, enjoy statistics, are interested in social political, and economic problems and have strong analytical, research, and communication skills (Shorelight.com).

Many successful individuals such as Tiger Woods, Meg Whitman (former CEO of eBay and Hewlett-Packard), Warren Buffett, Bill Belichick, Melinda Gates, Danny Glover (actor), and Cate Blanchett (actress) have a degree in economics.
