As the population ages, careers in medical and health services are expected to grow faster than all other occupations. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for professionals in medical and health services is expected to grow 20 percent by 2026, faster than the average for other occupations. 

The 12-credit Healthcare Administration Certificate program provides students with the opportunity to explore the areas specific to the healthcare industry and learn the business skills required to lead people, set business strategy and manage healthcare-related businesses.

The course requirements provide an understanding of the healthcare system in the United States and associated concern for security, privacy protections, quality and cost controls, as well as overall viability. This certificate program provides an in-depth level of expertise that would allow students to prepare for careers in healthcare administration. The program can be completed 100 percent online and within one year.

After completing the certificate program students should be able to:

  1. Identify the components of healthcare administration that must be managed based on impacts from the global economy.
  2. Apply critical analytical skills in choosing among alternative courses of action in various aspects of policy and practices for fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  3. Analyze the impact of the legal and regulatory environment on healthcare organizations as well as respond to competitive pressures.
  4. Develop healthcare management systems that reflect operational practices and security protocols for organizational effectiveness.
