Health Care Administration Concentration

The Health Care Administration concentration provides students with the opportunity to explore the areas specific to the health care industry and the challenges it faces in light of regulatory changes and client needs. Health care is one of the fastest-growing industries in terms of requiring service providers to have clinical expertise as well as business foundations to deal with managing the healthcare system.

The concentration will be provided as an option for students in the MBA program. The MBA program is a 30-credit hour degree program and the concentration consists of three courses (9 hours out of the 30 hours required for the degree). The course requirements provide an understanding of the health care system in the United States and associated concern for security, privacy protections, quality and cost controls, as well as overall viability. The concentration also provides an in-depth level of expertise that would allow students to prepare for careers in health care administration as well as advance the knowledge of current healthcare workers needing additional training in the management/administration of healthcare systems.
