The Don't Cancel Class Program

The LiveWell Office will offer “Don’t Cancel Class” this semester. We continue to work with campus partners to provide educational presentations on a variety of topics should you need to cancel a class. If you know that you will be missing a class, you or your administrative specialists are asked to call or email using the contact information listed beside your chosen session. In Spring 2023, several participating departments will be offering presentations in the online environment, as noted below.

We will be happy to take attendance during the class. It is preferred that you call in advance to schedule a presentation, though we will make every effort to cover all requests. Thank you for your support of this program which aims to help all of our students take advantage of every possible educational moment to engage in their holistic development.

This interactive session will address the many ways students experience conflict and effective techniques to manage conflict in interpersonal relationships.

StepUp! Bystander Intervention

Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that educates students to be proactive in helping others. The goals of Step UP! are to raise awareness of helping behaviors, increase motivation to help, develop skills and confidence when responding to problems or concerns, and ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.

Learn about recycling, composting, sustainable, transportation, farmers markets, Pop-Up Thrift Shop, Campus Salvage, and many other items that help you go green. You will also hear how you can get involved at CCU and within the community

Education Abroad 101 Session with The Center for Global Engagement

Gender and Popular Culture

Popular culture is never simply entertainment. It provides us with the stories, images, and scripts that enable us to imagine and practice our identities. SAFE Response to Violence

The S.A.F.E. method is meant to empower individuals during a threatening situation and equip them with ideas and knowledge of what to do in dangerous situations by proactively providing a plan of action. The session will include both presentation and audience participation exercises that help promote the S.A.F.E. response to violence model. Bobby Pellerin

Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention and Harm Reduction

This interactive presentation teaches students evidence-based practical strategies and encourages healthy choices and responsible decision-making to reduce harmful consequences related to alcohol and drug use.

Nutrition as Self-Care

In this presentation, students learn introductory information about how to use nutrition as a form of self-care. Topics discussed include: factors that influence food choices, a non-diet approach to nutrition (enough, variety, enjoyment, individual needs), on-campus resources for meeting nutrition needs, and individual goal setting.
