Appreciation for Veterans

November 11, 2022

Dear Coastal Carolina University Community,

Each year as the United States recognizes Veterans Day, it affords all of us a tremendous opportunity to acknowledge the countless military members who duly serve or have served our country as well as remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defending this nation. Our country, our University, and the many communities in which we live are better, safer places because of the unwavering and ongoing commitment from our dedicated military. Please join me in thanking them for their service.

The University’s commitment to our military students and their families is steadfast. CCU is proud to offer a U.S. Army ROTC program and an Office of Military and Veteran Services, and host the United Bank Center for Military and Veteran Studies, which collects and preserves oral histories of veterans. The E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration houses the Boeing Military to Civilian Success Program, which assists service members, veterans, and their spouses with individualized training for career advancement. Our efforts in supporting our military students have helped us earned a spot on the 2022 Military Times’ Best for Vets: Colleges list. I am also grateful for our many CCU faculty, staff, and alumni service members. Thank you!

Tomorrow’s regular-season home football game will be our annual Military Appreciation Day at Brooks Stadium. To show our gratitude to our service men and women, those who served and/or are serving can bring their Military ID to receive one free ticket to the game. Also, at the start of the game, members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will form a pathway and help welcome the Chanticleers onto the field.

Let’s be cognizant of the efforts of our military today – Veterans Day – and every day.

Michael T. Benson
