International Freshman Admissions Process

Freshman applicants have completed or will soon complete high school, and have not taken any additional classes outside of high school.

STEP 1: Apply ONLINE or through COMMON APP

Click here to apply as a FRESHMAN and pay the application fee.


STEP 2: Request Secondary School Transcripts.

Request that your current school send official academic transcripts, mark sheets, grade reports, diplomas or certificates, national standardized examination results, or other academic coursework to CCU. There are two ways to get these documents.

  1. Enter the school information in the application. An email is sent to the school to request the documents.  The school can upload the documents using the link in that email. When the school submits the documents, they will be added to the application.
  2. Contact the school and ask them to email the documents to internationaladmissions@coastal.edu

Official documents should be submitted in the original language(s) AND with an official English translation if not in English. If you need assistance translating your documents, resources can be found at American Translators Association


STEP 3: Meet English Proficiency Guidelines and Request Test Scores.

I am from an approved English-speaking country OR I have attended high school in the US for at least two years. To complete my application... 

SAT and ACT test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to Coastal Carolina University. The institutional code for the SAT is 5837 and for the ACT is 3843

If you choose to exclude test scores, you may apply as Test Optional. You may be asked to submit additional information to support your application, such as letters of recommendation, and an essay or personal statement. You are encouraged to submit these documents with your application.

Be sure to check the list of acceptable English Proficiency tests and grades. Test scores or English courses meeting guidelines for proficiency should be sent directly from the testing agency or the school to Coastal Carolina University.

The institutional code for the TOEFL is 5837. When taking the IELTS or DUOLINGO ENGLISH TEST, request that Coastal Carolina University receive your scores. Scores must be within two years of the application date.


STEP 4: Make Sure to Submit All Required Documents

Make sure to check your email and your application portal on a regular basis. Items like a copy of your passport can be uploaded directly to your application.
