January 2019 

1987
Jay Kirby has been promoted to vice president of public affairs at Santee Cooper Cooperative in Kingstree, S.C.

Andy Rosenbaum was recognized as the employee of the quarter for the Department of the Navy Office of the General Counsel. He is a civilian paralegal managing the command’s Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act programs at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic in North Charleston, S.C.

1994
Mandy Gardill Dunlap recently celebrated her 20th anniversary at RE/MAX Southern Shores. During her career, she has been a Top 10 RE/MAX agent in the Carolinas, RE/MAX Southern Shores No. 1 sales agent for multiple years, inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame, and honored with the RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement award.

James Smith
is the system director of financial aid reporting and reconciliation at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas.

2000
Rob Spino has been named teacher of the year at Forestbrook Elementary School in Myrtle Beach, where he has taught for nine years. He teaches physical education. Spino also is a teaching associate at CCU.

2001
Kevin Cox has been promoted to sales supervisor for HTC’s Business Services Department. He also was reelected to the CCU Alumni Association board of directors.

2007
Jae Hatchett is vice president of business development and operations manager at Oneliance Corporation in Charlotte, N.C. He also owns three Two Scoops Homemade Creamery locations in Charlotte area. His daughter was born in March 2018.

2008
Ryan Belcastro and Kamee Locke were married on Dec. 1 in Larned, Kan. He is the warehouse manager of Pumps and Controls in Denver, Colo.

Stacie Bowie has been named vice president of finance and administration at Lander University in Greendwood, S.C. She most recently served as a senior vice president of public finance with Stephens Inc., an independent financial services firm. 

2009
Ashley Moore Hinch has been named teacher of the year at Conway High School in Conway. She teaches AP environmental Science to juniors and seniors, and biology to college prep and honors sophomores. 

2011
Lauren Moore
is a real estate attorney at Harvey & Vallini, LLC. She earned a juris doctor degree from the Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville. Moore lives in Murrells Inlet, S.C. 

Tyler Parker is a senior manager of premium partnerships for the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center.

Eric Heiken is the digital marketing manager at Condo-World Resort Properties in North Myrtle Beach.

2014
Megan Harmon has been named teacher of the year at Kingston Elementary School in Conway. 

Abby Merrell, an art teacher at Conway Middle School, has been named the school’s teacher of the year.

1980
Tony Cox has been named vice chairman of the South Carolina Department of Transportation. He is an executive vice president of real estate at Burroughs & Chapin in Myrtle Beach.

1986
Pam (Goecke) Kemp has opened All Suds, a soap-making and retail shop in Fayetteville, Ga. She specializes in artisan soaps, lotions and bath products.

1990
Blake Kline has opened Atlantic Coast Pain Specialists in Florence, which is a branch of his Conway office. His background includes working at Florence Neurosurgery and Spine, and as chief of anesthesiology at Carolinas Hospital System.

1995
Steve Childers was recently promoted to assistant principal at Sedgefield Middle School in Goose Creek. He and his wife, Nikki, and are expecting a baby in June.

2002
Brian Lowe
is senior promoter for Live Nation Clubs & Theaters Midwest. His 17-year career within House of Blues Entertainment/Live Nation Clubs & Theaters began in January 2002 with an internship during his senior year at CCU. He lives in Lakewood, Ohio, with his wife, Britny, and 2-year-old son, Archie.

Patricia (Collins) Frady
is a senior manager at Heath, Fania and Co. PC in Surfside Beach. She is a certified public accountant and a master analyst in financial forensics.

2007
Anne-Marie D’Onofrio is an associate technical editor/report administrator for the Integrated Air Services team of Weston Solutions Inc., which is based in West Chester, Pa. Weston provides environmental and infrastructure support services to federal, state and local government, and industrial, utility and commercial clients.

2009
Zack Byrd has been named an assistant women’s golf coach at the University of Mississippi. He previously held a similar position at Colorado State University. 

Alexis (Skelley) Elliott is therapist/owner of Diabetes and Obesity Treatment Strategies in Myrtle Beach. She also is a behavioral health coach at The Diabetes Wellness Council. She is a licensed clinical social worker, a certified diabetes educator and a health education specialist. Elliott earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

2011
Amy Haggard
is the new assistant director of alumni and student engagement for the Honors, Scholars and Fellows House at Florida State University.

2013
John Paribello
and Sadie Giza ’14 were engaged in New York City. Their wedding date is Oct. 12, 2019. While at CCU, she was a founding member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Nathan Rood is the new SEO digital marketing manager with InterCoastal Net Designs in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.

2014
T’ara Smith is the project manager for Beyond Type 2, a resource website for those impacted by Type 2 diabetes. She earned a master’s degree in nutrition education from American University in Washington, D.C.

2018
Lucas Byrd
is a part-time fitness specialist and a certified personal trainer at the McLeod Health & Fitness Center in Florence. He earned his personal training certification from the American College of Sports Medicine in August 2018.

March 2019

1992
Kirk Kirkland has been named a real estate broker at Charleston Metro Homes Real Estate. His background includes more than 25 years in the yacht brokerage business.

1997
Greg Ackerman has been named a senior manager at WebsterRogers LLP, an accounting and consulting firm. Based in Myrtle Beach, he specializes in performing financial audits and reviews of various types of companies and organizations across multiple industry lines. Ackerman also is a member of CCU’s HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies board of visitors.

Pattie Dyson Carmichael 
has been named the teacher of the year at Aynor Elementary School in Aynor, S.C. She has been teaching in the school’s child development area for 21 years.

2001
Ryan White and his wife, Tracy, welcomed their first child, Harrelson Elizabeth White, on Jan. 27, 2019. He owns Ryan White Agency, which offers products from the Horace Mann Insurance Company. Based in Conway, he has been providing educators in Horry County insurance and financial services for the last 18 years.

2011
Rob Shields, the owner of NautiFish Rum Bar at the Lake of the Ozarks, has been recognized as a Rising Star under the age of 40 by Lake Lifestylesmagazine. In addition, he recently opened Missouri Grown ReLeaF and is striving to become the largest vertically-integrated medical/recreational marijuana company in Missouri. The company’s goal is to help people in need, decrease opioid abuse and educate the community on the health benefits of cannabis.

2013
Josh Brown has been named teacher of the year at Midland Elementary School in Galivants Ferry, where he teaches fifth-grade social studies and math.

2014
Lauren Gross is engaged to John McCants Jr. They plan to get married Nov. 16 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet. She is a second-grade teacher at Seaside Elementary School in Murrells Inlet.

Marquay Byrd is a Navy cryptologic warfare officer with Cryptologic Warfare Activity 66 in Fort Meade, Md.

2018
Connor Wrightson was recently named an associate of sales and leasing at Avison Young, a full-service commercial real estate services firm. He specializes in office/flex space leasing. His responsibilities include both tenant and landlord representation services for corporate and private organizations throughout the Washington, D.C., metro area.

April 2019

2003
Amanda Phillips has been promoted to vice president at CresCom Bank in Litchfield, S.C. She originates mortgage loans in Litchfield/Pawleys Island and surrounding areas.

2007
Jason Cox has been named the new athletics director at Conway High School in Conway, S.C. He worked the last 10 years at Green Sea Floyds Middle and High School, including five years as its athletics director.

Benjamin Staples is included in The State’s 20 under 40 class for 2019. He is an assistant vice president at Ameris Bank. According to the paper, the class members use their talents and energy to excel in their professions and to push the Midlands to greater heights.

2010
Catherine Frederick earned a Ph.D. in marine bio-resources from the University of Maine in December 2018. She lives in Bangor, Maine.

2015
Lauren Allen will graduate from the American University Washington College of Law in May 2019. She has accepted an associate position at Diaz Reus & Targ in Miami, Fla., following completion of the bar exam in July 2019.

2016
Ryan Faust and Emilye Rybarczyk, who were engaged March 29, 2019, plan to get married in May 2020 in Greenville, S.C. They met sophomore year at CCU.

2017
Jonathan Krause has been named a customer service representative at CresCom Bank. He works at the Meeting Street branch in Charleston, S.C.

2018
Brandon Brown is the marketing director for his family-run NASCAR Xfinity Series operation, Brandonbilt Motorsports.

May 2019

1994
Sarah Loudin Thomas’ fifth full-length novel, When Silence Sings, will be released Nov. 5, 2019. Previous novels have won the 2015 INSPY Award and have been nominated for the American Christian Fiction Writers’ Carol Award and the Christian Book of the Year.

2006
Patrick Niland has been appointed the assistant county manager for Union County, N.C. He previously served as town manager of Wingate, N.C.

2007
Danny Richie is the head golf pro at Willow Brook Golf Course in Catasauqua, Penn.

Josh Williams is the new chief digital officer for Golf Tourism Solutions based in Myrtle Beach.

2008
Will Richardson has been named the new head football coach at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, S.C. A native of Sumter, S.C., he was the Chanticleers’ starting quarterback in 2007.

2009
Samantha Kite Hicks has been promoted to associate director of client services and scholarships in CCU’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

2011
Bárbara Astrini won a 2019 Daytime Emmy Award for her work on Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr. Color Song: RED in the category of Outstanding Short Format Children’s Program.

2012
Michael Dorman has received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award for an English Teaching Assistantship for the 2019-20 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. He will be teaching English in Belarus and assisting working adults to improve their English skills and enhance their economic opportunity. Dorman earned a master’s degree in 2017 from the University of Texas at Austin in Eastern European and Russian area studies. 

Matthew Lunden has been named a real estate agent at RE/MAX Realty Group Rehoboth in Rehoboth Beach, Del. He specializes in golf and vacation properties. He most recently served as the head golf professional at Pinehurst Resort No. 8 in Pinehurst, N.C.

2014
Suzy Nazimek recently moved to New York City, where she works as a research analyst at W20 Group. She earned a master’s in marketing analytics from Texas A&M University in 2018.

2015
Sarah Bowler is the admissions director at PruittHealth Conway at the Conway Medical Center.

Hailey Olson is the manager of registration at AnMed Health in Anderson, S.C. She also earned an MBA from CCU in December 2018.

2016
Camrynn Gonzales became a first-time home buyer on April 1. She is an admissions counselor at CCU.

2017
Jessica Hughes is a student accounts specialist in CCU’s Office of Student Accounts.

Serena Solomon is a materials planner at Ingersoll Rand in Buffalo, N.Y.

2019
Vanessa Dease has been named a math teacher at Georgetown Middle School.

Patrick Dempsey has been named a sales and trading analyst at Citi in New York City.

Adrian Smith has been named the assistant curator at the Florence County Museum in Florence, S.C.

Tammy (Bazin) Tefft is the chief procurement officer and construction project manager for the City of Westfield, Mass.

2001
Dwight Williams is the Roger F. and Harriet G. Varney Assistant Professor of Chemistryat Kalamazoo College. The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and Course Hero have extended a 2019 Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching grant to him in recognition of his ability to build student confidence, encourage critical thinking and prepare students for lifelong learning.

2003
Tiffany (Turner) Hall has been named the principal at Leavelle-McCampbell Middle School in Graniteville, S.C. She has been the assistant principal at Jackson STEM Middle School.

2005
Renee Howard-Condon is a high school math teacher at Creekside High School in St. Johns County, Fla. She lives in St. Augustine with her husband and two children.

2006
Joey Schumann is a general practitioner in the Ascension Healthcare System in Appleton, Wisc. He also is a touring musician who plays the Irish uilleann bagpipes and tin whistle. He tours with the Tim Janis Ensemble, “The Way of the Rain” with Robert and Sibylle Redford, and The Lutheran Ceili Orchestra. Schumann has been a featured Celtic performer for seven years running at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He lives in Appleton with his wife and three kids.

2007
Jeff Giovannone, a physical education teacher at Widefield High School in Colorado Springs, Col., has been named the school’s head girls’ basketball coach. He and Brittany Hugill were married July 21, 2018, in Manitou Springs, Col.

2009
Madison Lucas is a vocalist and instrumentalist with Modern Moxie, which recently released its debut album, “Claw Your Way Out.”

2011
Shannon Klotsko has been named an assistant professor Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences/Center for Marine Science at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Michelle Schmalfeldt has been named a paralegal in the City of Myrtle Beach’s Public Defender’s Office.

2016
Nicholas Clark, a former member of CCU’s football program, is one of eight winners of the John McLendon Minority Postgraduate Scholarship Award. Each recipient receives a $10,000 grant to be used toward postgraduate studies in athletics administration. Clarks plans to pursue a degree in sports administration at Georgia State University.

2018
Devann (Donovan) Gardner has been named the children’s art educator at the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach. She and Tyler Gardner were married on April 27, 2019, in Conway.

Chanice La Touche has been named a staff accountant in the Charleston office of Moore Beauston & Woodham LLP, a full-service accounting and consulting firm. A member of the S.C. Association of Certified Public Accountants, she earned a Master of Accountancy degree from CCU.

1995
Teresa Todd has been named the new principal at North Myrtle Beach High School. She worked the last seven years as the school’s assistant principal. She has spent her entire 24-year career working in Horry County Schools.

Brent Ham is a regional sales manager for Hu-Friedy, aglobal leader in dental instrument manufacturing and infection prevention solutions.

Carolyn Prince-Holt recently retired after running the Jack and Jill Nursery School in Loris, S.C., for nearly 50 years.

1999
Mike Allen 
has named the regional subsurface utility engineering manager at the Dallas/Fort Worth office of McKim & Creed, an employee-owned engineering and surveying firm.

Treda (Smith) Grayson earned a Ph.D. in environmental science and policy from George Mason University on May 17, 2019.

2000
Ashley Smith has been named Conway’s new recreation director. He previously served on the Conway City Council, and worked as a teacher and coach at Conway High School.

Elise Testone, a 2012 American Idol finalist, has released a new album, “This Is Love.”

2006
Chris Halkowitz has joined Suggs Johnson CPAs in Anderson, S.C., where he will lead the firm’s audit and assurance practice. He also earned an MBA from CCU in 2008.

2007
Patrick Flynn and his wife, Julia, are opening Anytime Fitness in Forestbrook Village off U.S. 501 in Myrtle Beach. The gym will offer 24/7 access and small group workout sessions.

2008
Ashleigh Alcorn is the new executive director of the Dustin Johnson Foundation. She previously worked in athletic fundraising at CCU, Louisiana State University and Texas Tech University.

2009
Jason Wilkes, the head football coach at Cary High School in Cary, N.C., has been named the 2019 Cary Chamber of Commerce Coach of the Year.

2011
Brooke Donaldson and Candice Posey were married on June 8, 2019, in Hackettstown, N.J. All four of their dogs were included in the ceremony.

2012
Sarah (Ball) DiMilla has been named a realtor at ERA Key Realty Services’ Milford, Mass., office.

Lauren Haller and Nick Baldino ’14 plan to get married on Oct. 4, 2019. They met and fell in love during CCU’s annual Greek Week “Mock Rock” dance competition. Lauren was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and Nick was president of the Delta Chi fraternity.

Blair Wheeler has been named a sales manager at Action Sports, a new venture for Imperial Headwear. He previously served as s brand manager for Ocean & Earth USA.

2016
Garrett Bailey, Allix Greenwell, Kyle Massie and Nick Picha, all marine science graduates, have created the Ocean’s Heroes Project. The nonprofit helps to raise awareness of environmental concerns in relation to the ocean. It also raises money for undergraduate research in CCU’s marine science program. 

2018
Kaeli Day and Steven Haer, both of Columbia, S.C., were married May 18, 2019, on the Caribbean Princess in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

1995
Craig Stone has been named the new principal at Georgetown High School (GHS) in Georgetown, S.C. He previously served as the director of the Georgetown County School District’s career center at GHS.

2003
Jessica Greene is a licensed professional counselor at Next Level Behavioral Health and Wellness in Myrtle Beach.

Julia Greene Long is the assistant principal at Palmetto Bays Elementary School in Myrtle Beach.

Sharon McGhee has joined the board of directors of the YWCA Greater Charleston. She is the minority and women small business administration coordinator for the Charleston County Aviation Authority.

2006
Brandon Sessions has been the vice president of operations and corporate strategy at PC Matic. He previously worked at SecureWorks and the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation. He earned an MBA from CCU in 2011.

2008
Amos Lee has opened Dance Loud Dance Studio in Florence, S.C. In addition to recreational classes for dancers of all ages, she is forming a competitive dance company called Dance Loud Moving Company.

2009
Austin Fleet and Calli Martorana ’14 were married on March 10, 2018. They reside in Phoenix, Ariz., where Austin is a financial adviser for Merrill Lynch and Calli is a special education teacher.

2011
Courtney Simmons Kowalske works in business development with The Precisionists Inc., a global administrative services and information technology company dedicated to employing 10,000 people with disabilities by the year 2025. She and her husband, Justin, live in Nashville, Tenn.

2013
Justina Adorno plays the character Yoli in the new ABC TV series Grand Hotel.

Rebecca Shaver Clark has been named director of the honors program at Greenville Technical College in Greenville, S.C. She has been a member of the college’s English faculty since 2016.

2014
Jamiah Aguabella has accepted a marketing position with The North Face and recently moved to Denver, Colo. She previously held marketing positions with Virgin Atlantic and Uber, where she helped to launch the Uber Eats app.

Kristen Scolari and Lucas Williams were married at the Hobcaw House at Hobcaw Barony in Georgetown, S.C., on Saturday, May 25. She is a divisional accountant at Interfor in Georgetown. They live in Andrews. Kristen earned an MBA from CCU in 2016.

Sherell Winns and Tristan Wilson plan to get married on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Charlotte, N.C. They are both U.S. Army veterans and employed by the federal government.

2015
De’Angelo Henderson has been signed by the Minnesota Vikings. He previously played running back with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos.

Jessamin Straub has been named a finalist for the 2020 Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, which is a year-long program for graduate students who are interested in national policy issues affecting ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources. She recently earned a master’s degree in marine sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

2016
Josh Todd is the new principal at Daisy Elementary School in Loris, S.C. He began his teaching career in 2010 and most recently served as the assistant principal at Kingston Elementary School in Conway.

2017
Tonja Johnson has been named the new principal at Maryville Elementary School in Georgetown, S.C. She previously served as assistant principal at McDonald Elementary School.

1989
Brad Cunningham is the municipal attorney for the town of Lexington, S.C. He has received the 2011 South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Award and the 2014 Brown, Mulligan, Rocha Distinguished Public Service Award from the International Municipal Lawyers Association.

1992
Ben Neeves has been hired as a sign shop technician at CCU.

2000
Amy Hall is the executive producer of Segfault, a full-length feature film. She held a screening of the film at the Coastal Theater in the Lib Jackson Student Union on Aug. 29. Hall is the owner/president of The Barber Shop Marketing in Addison, Texas.

2008
Kimberly Daniel-Brister visited retired CCU English professor Randall Wells and his wife, Marjory, in Virginia in August. She is the senior director of communications at the Forum for Theological Exploration in Decatur, Ga.

2009
Paul Puccinelli and Lauren Overmeyer got engaged in June 2019. They are planning a Spring 2020 wedding.

Kisha (Lilly) Roberts is has been promoted to CFO at Horry Electric Cooperative in Conway, S.C. She has worked at the cooperative for 15 years.

2010
Megan McNeill has been promoted to accounting supervisor at Horry Electric Cooperative in Conway, S.C. She has worked at the cooperative for 13 years.

Alex Wetherell, who has worked at CresCom Bank since April 2017, has been promoted to commercial lending officer in the Charleston market. He previously served the bank as a credit analyst.

Ryan Wilson has been named the athletic superintendent at Fort Mill Parks and Recreation in Fort Mill, S.C.

2014
Francisca Argueta has been promoted to payroll accountant at Horry Electric Cooperative in Conway, S.C. She has worked at the cooperative for four years.

Daniel Baker studied Maasai communities and sustainable approaches to human/wildlife coexistence in Kenya this summer. He is a graduate student in Miami University’s Global Field Program, and is a biology teacher at Thomas McKean High School in Wilmington, Del. 

2015
Connor Romito studied lowland rain forest and montane cloud forests while investigating the biotic, physical, and cultural forces that affect tropical biodiversity in Costa Rica this summer. He is a graduate student in Miami University’s Global Field Program, and an associate animal trainer at Discovery Cove in Orlando, Fla. 

2016
Sara Nolan, a former Chanticleer lacrosse player, has returned to CCU as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach. She previously served as an assistant coach at both St. Bonaventure University and Westminster College. 

2018
Lindsey Hanks has been named an academic adviser in CCU’s Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Andrew Roy, a former Chanticleer golfer, has rejoined CCU’s men’s golf program as an assistant coach.

Class Notes October 2019

1980
Gary Gilmore, CCU’s head baseball coach, will be inducted into the Franklin County (Va.) High School Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 18. He lettered in baseball, football, and basketball. He was the 1976 Timesland Player of the Year in baseball with a 0.78 earned run average and .313 batting average, and participated in the inaugural Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Game 1976. In 30 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Gilmore has an overall record of 1,216-604-4, including a 963-502-2 mark in 24 years with the Chanticleers. He led CCU to its first-ever national championship in 2016.

2000
Dan Trumbower has been named a senior wealth advisor at Halpern Financial, an independent wealth management firm in the Washington, D.C., metro area. He comes to the firm with 18 years of experience in the wealth management industry. 

2001
Ed Tkacz, the CEO of Tkacz Engineering in Myrtle Beach, announced that his company has been awarded a new contract with Navy Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) to provide cyber security support to Fleet Logistics Center (FLCB) Bahrain in Manama, Bahrain. NAVSUP FLCB provides logistical support for U.S. Naval Forces in the Middle East and Southwest Asia.

2003
Chris Hyer recently earned an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from Boise State University, where he is the assistant director of the Honors College.

Clifton Parker, the owner and creative director of Ellev Advertising Agency, an award-winning, full-service advertising agency with an office in Myrtle Beach, recently served as host and organizer of Charleston’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and the Rumble n’ Rock After-Party. The events, which Ellev has helped to sponsor and promote the last two years, raise awareness and financial support for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.

2004
Eileen Daub is the aquatic husbandry manager at That Fish Place - That Pet Place in Lancaster, Penn. She also is an actress and has performed at Hersheypark, Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire and various dinner theaters throughout central Pennsylvania.

2005
Landon Johnson is a special education teacher at Aynor Elementary School in Aynor, S.C. He earned an M.Ed. in educational leadership from CCU in 2017. He and his wife, Heather, have three children, Dominic, Andre, and Alyssa.

2007
Salman Anjum is the vice president of operations at Wyndham Destinations in Knoxville, Tenn.

Shannon Curtin and Ryan Taylor ’08 were married on Sept. 1, 2019, and live in Albany, N.Y.  They met at CCU in 2005 through Greek life.

2008
Marissa Mitzner, who served as CCU’s first sustainability coordinator, is pursuing an MBA in sustainable business practices at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Penn. Dustin King, who co-owns more than 35 Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon and Carvel locations, plans to open 16 Jamba locations, many of which will be cobranded with Auntie Anne’s.

Rachel Miller is pursuing a Ph.D. in marine biology and aquaculture at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia. She previously worked as a research assistant at the Cape Eleuthera Institute in Eleuthera, The Bahamas.

Lindsey Doyle and Coltin Nobles were married May 25, 2019, at The Blessed Barn in Aynor, S.C. They honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica. She is a secondary math teacher at Carolina Forest High School in Myrtle Beach.

Belinda White Thomas, a retired elementary school teacher, has published her first book, Grandma Said … Wisdom from My Elders. She is an active member of the South Carolina Education Association-Retired and the Richland County Education Association-Retired. Thomas lives in Columbia, S.C., and enjoys visiting with her three children and four grandchildren.

Chuck Banaszewski is an assistant professor in the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University, where he has worked for the last eight years. He also has been an adjunct instructor for humanities and fine arts courses for the Maricopa Community College System for 11 years. His three children – two girls and a boy – are named after authors: Emerson, Marlowe, and Hawthorne.

Lucy Aplan recently accepted a position as a research technologist II at Penn State University’s Genomic Core Facility, where she performs Sanger sequencing.

Dan Sine and his wife, Michelle, announced the birth of their son, Shane Daniel Sine, on Sept. 26, 2019. They live in Myrtle Beach.

Beth Payton, who is in her 16th year in education, has been named one of three magnet coordinators for Barton County Schools in Georgia. She leads the new Center for Advanced Studies in Science, Technology and Math at Adairsville High School. Payton and her husband have one son and live in Cartersville.

Cassie Ward has been named the new executive director of the Putnam History Museum in Cold Spring, N.Y. She most recently served as executive director of the New Castle Historical Society and Horace Greeley House in Chappaqua, N.Y.

Mola Lenghi has been named a CBS News correspondent based in New York. He will report for all programs and platforms, including the CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell, CBS This Morning, and CBSN, CBS News’ digital streaming news service. Before joining CBS News in May 2017, he spent three years as a general assignment reporter at WUSA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. He began his career at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach. Lenghi earned an Emmy Award in 2015 for his reporting on the disappearance of 8-year-old Relisha Rudd in 2014.

Lauren Brajer has been named a social media and content strategist at Rizco, a branding agency based in New Jersey. She lives in Ocean Grove, N.J.

Eugene Bellamy Jr. and his wife, Raven, announced the birth of twins, Micah Alexandria Bellamy and Malachi Alexander Bellamy, on Oct. 8, 2019. He is the new principal at Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School in Jasper County, S.C.

Tanner Massey has been named an assistant coach with the Northern Arizona Suns, which competes in the NBA G League and is an affiliate of the NBA Phoenix Suns. He is in his sixth season in the league and previously coached with the Capital City Go-Go and Erie Bayhawks.

Marcus Lott was inducted into the Union County (S.C.) School District Hall of Fame on Oct. 11, 2019. As a senior, he led Union County High School to the state championship game and was named to the Class AAA All-State Team. He was also chosen to play in the 2007 North-South All-Star football game. While at CCU, he was named the 2011 Big South Conference Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Lott lives in Douglas, Ga.

Dallas Gant has been named a police officer with the Lacey Township (N.J.) Police Department. He previously worked as an officer with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and Seaside Heights Police Department.

Sam Ghannam recently moved to Colorado, where he is raising baby calves on his farm.

Dorothy “Dottie” Connor is a regional coordinator for Phoenix Health Education and Wellness. She is certified to teach five types of Tai Chi.

Nicholas Clark has been appointed chair of the NCAA Board of Governors Student-Athlete Engagement Committee for the 2019-2020 academic year. He is pursuing a master’s degree in sport administration from Georgia State University.

Colin Dzur is an eighth-grade science teacher at Whittemore Park Middle School in Conway. He previously taught in the Marion County School District for three years. Dzur earned a master’s in instructional technology from CCU in 2019.

Brianna Tramutolo has been promoted to environmental scientist at Environmental Waste Management Associates, an employee-owned environmental consulting and mediation company in Parsippany, N.J. She began her career as an intern with the company.

Brad Cunningham has been awarded the Joseph I. Mulligan Award for Distinguished Public Service by the International Municipal Lawyers Association. He is a past recipient of the South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year. He is the town attorney for Lexington, S.C.

2001
Ian Marshall, the PGA head golf professional at the Watertown Golf Club in Watertown, Conn., has been elected to the PGA of America board of directors. He will serve a three-year term and represent District 1, which includes the Connecticut, New England, and Northeastern New York PGA Sections. Marshall in Watertown with his wife, Ami, and two sons, Andrew and Nathan.

Michael Wallace and Holley Blackwelder ’08 were married June 9, 2018, at 21 Main Events at North Beach in North Myrtle Beach. They met while working together at DoubleTree Resort in Myrtle Beach. Holley is a wedding specialist with 21 Main Events, and Mike is the assistant controller at CCU. He also earned an MBA from CCU in 2009.

Brandy Joe was recently named the director of Upward Bound for Williamsburg County, S.C. She previously served as academic counselor for the program, which is housed at Williamsburg Technical College.

Farrah Strickland is the assistant recreation manager at The Grove Resort in Winter Garden, Fla.

Kaitlyn Ryhal has been named the teacher of the year at Aynor Elementary School in Aynor, S.C., where she teaches kindergarten. She earned an M.Ed. in instructional technology from CCU in 2017.

Sarah Robinson has been named the 2019-2020 teacher of the year at Conway Elementary School, where she teaches third grade reading, writing, social studies, and science. The Belpre, Ohio, native earned a master’s degree in language, literacy, and culture from CCU in May 2019.

John Volk is a student computing services consultant with CCU’s Office of Information Technology Services.

Brandi Washell is a survey support specialist in CCU’s Office of Institutional Research, Assessment and Analysis.

2018
Caitlyn Bledsoe has been named the 2019-2020 teacher of the year at Aynor Middle School. A native of Conway, she teaches seventh grade science and video production, and sixth grade robotics. She also teaches math for all three middle school grades. Bledsoe earned a master’s in instructional technology at CCU.

Josh Conway has been named a pitching coach with the Frederick Keys, the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the fourth round of the 2012 draft, Conway pitched three seasons in the Chicago minor league system, reaching as high as Double-A. This included a stint with the Carolina League’s Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2015, where he went 2-2 with a 2.92 ERA in 34 relief outings.
