A cultural celebration that recognizes and acknowledges the achievements and contributions of LGBTQIA+ student of all backgrounds.
Donning of the Kente:

A graduation ceremony designed to recognize the academic, professional and personal achievements of students that identify within the African diaspora.

In honor of National Coming Out Day IISS in collaboration with PRiDE hosted a drag show as a way to pay homage to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Spring 2024 Graduate Recognition Celebrations

Celebración de la Excelencia
April 27th | 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. | Alford Ballroom of Atheneum Hall

The Celebración de la Excelencia ceremony is to recognize the Latino/a/x students graduating from Coastal Carolina University. This is a gathering of faculty, staff, parents, family members, and friends of the graduates to celebrate your great accomplishment. The program will take place in the Alford Ballroom with a reception on the patio of Antheneum Hall. Each graduate will be individually recognized and presented with a cord or stole. This ceremony is open to any graduate who will complete their degree during the Spring or Summer of 2024.

If you are interested in participating in this ceremony, please complete the registration form, which includes the information to be read as you receive your stole during the ceremony. This form can be found at https://bit.ly/3xdCclB. Be sure to submit this form no later than Sunday, April 14^th at 11:59 p.m.

Lavender Brunch

Donning of the Kente
April 30th | 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. | Wheelwright Auditorium

The Donning of the Kente Ceremony is to recognize the Black/African-American students graduating from Coastal Carolina University. This is a gathering of faculty, staff, parents, family members, and friends of the graduates to celebrate this great accomplishment. The program will take place in Wheelwright Auditorium followed by a reception in Spadoni Park. Each graduate will be individually recognized and presented with an authentic Kente stole. This ceremony is open to any graduate who will complete their degree during the Spring or Summer of 2024.

If you are interested in participating in this ceremony, please complete the Donning of the Kente registration form, which includes the information to be read as you receive your stole during the ceremony.
