About the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is one of several departments within the Office of Student Life. As an office, we strive to create a values-based collegiate experience for undergraduates consisting of academic pursuits, leadership and social development, cultural awareness and service to others. One of our central goals is to create a "home away from home" for our students within each organization, within our three governing councils and throughout the entire community.

The fraternity and sorority community is composed of more than 1,200 students, which represents about 13 percent of the undergraduate population; hence, fraternity and sorority life is incredibly dynamic at Coastal Carolina. As such, there are three main aspects of which great focus will be placed in order to build upon the solid foundation of the interfraternal membership experience at Coastal: community development, leadership and learning, and strategic planning

The vision of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Coastal Carolina University is to develop global citizens by enhancing their academic pursuits through a values based fraternal experience.

The mission of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Coastal Carolina University is to strive to provide members with the tools necessary to become the leaders of tomorrow through brotherhood/sisterhood. Fraternity and sorority membership advances the mission of the University to develop productive, responsible, healthy citizens. While individually unique in scholarship, leadership, community service and social interaction, each chapter and council embraces diversity and promotes high standards of excellence.
