Aaron Clune

I joined Coastal Carolina University in September 2021 as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations (Athletics). I enjoy problem-solving and the fast-paced nature of my work—it seems like every day there is something new to troubleshoot. Working alongside many others on campus, one of my main roles involves the general upkeep of all athletic facilities and venues ranging from Brooks Stadium, Springs Brooks Stadium, St. John Stadium, the HTC Center, and many more. The other half of my job revolves around game management and operations for our NCAA-sponsored athletic programs.

Along with the Associate Athletic Director Bryan Stiles, I serve as the liaison for the athletic programs and their needs across campus when working with custodial services, facilities, and other outside contractors. I also supervise athletic facility student workers and interns.

In my short time as a Staff Senator, I have enjoyed the ability to meet others in departments that I am not normally in contact with. This role gives me a bigger picture understanding of how we all work together for the common good of our university. I look forward to being part of the growth of CCU. The majors offered along with our location create a wonderful opportunity for our school and community to thrive.

I am originally from New Bremen, Ohio. After receiving my BS in Education at Bowling Green State University, I taught high school science for three years and coached high school football and baseball in Ohio. I then earned a Masters’s in Sports Management at Tiffin University, after which I worked as the Coordinator of Athletic Facilities at Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, North Carolina for two and a half years.

My family regularly vacationed in Myrtle Beach, so CCU was a dream destination for me. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time at the pool and beach with my wife Emma, and son Briggs.
